Drinking in the city
During my multisensory exhibition exploring city environments, I ponder how the city might shape our experience of sipping wine al fresco in urban spaces
As I write this post, I’m sitting in a gallery in the city of Ōtautahi-Christchurch, New Zealand amongst multisensory art installations that I have created to reimagine the city through intersections of the nonvisual senses. In the show, What might we find when we stop looking? – which includes sound and drink – I’ve sought to reflect the complex web of sensory experiences encountered in the urban environment. Should you be enjoying a wine in such a metropolitan milieu, these busy sonic spaces will certainly be influencing your perception of what you have in your glass.
