Sensing the wine note
If describing wine is like dancing about architecture, should we just ditch words and let our senses do the talking?
A study once revealed that the chance of matching the blurb on a wine’s back label with the taste of the wine itself is no better than a coin toss.1 This may be down to misleading spin on the part of the winery, but conveying a wine’s character can be a challenge. What if you got rid of words altogether when communicating about wine? That’s an option explored in recent research, which proposed using the connections between the senses to convey the contents of a bottle.
